Canada’s Lonnie Bissonnette claimed the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) Para-bobsleigh World Cup overall title today, despite failing to make the podium in the final race of the season in Igls in Austria.

Bissonnette clocked a time of 1min 48.14sec to finish fourth, 0.75 seconds behind winner Corie Mapp of Great Britain, but it was still enough to keep hold of his overall World Cup lead.

His nearest challenger prior to the race was the United States’ Aaron Lanningham, who was overtaken by Mapp in the final standings after coming seventh today.

Bissonnette ended the campaign with 672 points, with Mapp second on 590 and Lanningham third with 582.

Mapp’s winning time of 1:47.39 in Igls saw him finish ahead of Latvia’s Alvils Brants, 0.31 seconds behind, and Austria’s Andreas Kapfinger, 0.36 seconds back.
