The International Ski Federation (FIS) has added an additional Ski Jumping World Cup event to the calendar after strong winds forced the postponement of an event in Ruka, Finland, at the beginning of the campaign.

An additional competition is now due to be held on Finnish snow, on the large hill at Lahti on February 19.

The venue was already due to hold a team competition on February 20 and an individual event on February 21, which will both still go ahead, meaning the hill will host three contests in all.

They will serve as the final test events for the Nordic Ski Championships of 2017, which Lahti is hosting.

The winds in Ruka initially caused cancellation of official training and qualification on November 26, and the first day of competition, which was scheduled for the next day, was also called off.

Seventy jumpers did manage to compete on November 28, before strong winds returned and the action was permanently postponed.

Germany's Andreas Wank had produced the best effort of the competition, the second on the World Cup calendar for the 2015-2016 season, before the postponement.

He leaped 129.5 metres but his effort was to be in vain.

The FIS has had to move and reschedule a number of events due to weather this season - particularly because of unseasonable warmth which has melted snow at various venues.
