England Golf has announced the appointment of Nick Pink as their new chief executive to end their search for David Joy’s replacement.

In September, Joy announced his decision to resign from the post he had held since 2013, to take up the same position at British Canoeing.

While he continued to serve as the chief executive until the end of 2015, England Golf began seeking out candidates to fill the role and have now appointed Pink.

For the past four-years Pink has acted as the European manager for the International Cricket Council (ICC), with the continent boasting a 35 per cent increase in participation in the sport during his tenure, while he worked closely with Member Federations to improve their governance and administration.

Pink was also credited with supporting members to develop corporate and fundraising strategies to continue their growth, while building partnerships with Government, non-Government, European and charitable organisations to boost revenue streams.

He was also said to have been heavily involved in consultation to shape the ICC’s five-year strategy, working on developing digital and social media platforms to widen the organisation's reach.

In his new position, which he is due to take up on March 14, Pink will be tasked with leading England Golf’s strategic plan which attempts to inspire people to take up a long-term involvement in the sport.

“I am delighted to be joining England Golf and look forward to working alongside internal colleagues, County Unions and Associations, clubs and all other stakeholders to deliver the ‘Raising our Game’ strategy,” Pink said.

“Golf has played an important role in my own life and I passionately believe the sport can provide people of all ages the opportunity to play and be involved in our great game.”

England Golf are hopeful that Pink, who has previously held roles at UK Sport, the Youth Sport Trust and the Commonwealth Secretariat will provide a huge boost to the organisation.

Graham Yates, chairman of the England Golf Board, believes Pink will help to continue to develop the sport throughout the country.

"We are delighted to welcome Nick to England Golf,” he said.

“His experience, leadership qualities and networking skills will drive our strategy forward and support our aims to create more members, more players and stronger clubs.

“We are very much looking forward to working with Nick to further develop the game of golf.”
