ANOCA will hold their next Executive Committee meeting in Victoria Falls ©ANOCA

Combating doping problems and deciding whether to have an African Village in Rio de Janeiro next summer will be among issues leading the agenda at the next meeting of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) Executive Committee in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe in February.

ANOCA are hoping to work with the African Union in order to better promote anti-doping activity as well as to make sure athletes are still able to participate in sport after next year's Games.

This follows a speech by International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach where he urged all African NOCs to make "extra effort" to improve their work to tackle doping ahead of Rio 2016.

Suspicions over widespread doping has increased in recent weeks following publication of the World Anti-Doping Agency's (WADA) Independent Commission's report, which confirmed allegations of systemic doping within Russian athletics.

Greater light has been shone on problems in other countries, including in Kenya, where 38 athletes have tested positive for banned substances in recent months.

WADA has threatened the nation with expulsion from the Games if "unsatisfactory" answers are given in response to questioning over problems.

A final decision as to whether to develop an African Village in Rio is also expected to be made following the problems surrounding the closure of a similar project at London 2012 due to unpaid debts.

The meeting, set to be chaired by ANOCA President Lassana Palenfo, marks the latest of several ANOCA events to be held in the Zimbabwean resort town, including a continental-wide Chef de Missions forum ahead of London 2012 in 2011.

It will follow a busy period for the continental body since September's All-African Games in Brazzaville.

An Executive Committee meeting in São Tomé and Príncipe in November was followed by a General Assembly in Port Louis, Mauritius.

No exact date has yet been published for the February meeting.
