Sports Taekwondo Australia Ltd (STAL) have announced their strategic plan has been approved by their Board with their vision entitled “One Taekwondo”.

The plan is accompanied by the vision statement “unified, respected, successful and sustainable, and providing opportunities for all”, which was development with the input of the body’s members through a survey.

Having had the Board’s approval, the organisation are set to press ahead with developing an “implementation plan” with various committees, who will help to deliver the objectives outlined in the strategic plan.

The announcement of the plan continues the development of STAL following the merger of Taekwondo Australia and Sports Taekwondo Australia in 2014.

One of the key targets identified is to promote the unity of purpose and inclusion across all aspects of taekwondo, while promoting its values and opportunities for participants at all levels of the sport.

“The Board and Executive of Sports Taekwondo Australia are future focussed, and excited about the prospects for taekwondo in Australia,” said John Walker, chairman of STAL.

“We are committed to improving taekwondo for all participants, and we value every participant, whether traditional or competitive, equally.”

In addition to excelling at the high performance end of the sport, the organisation have also outlined growing participation in all forms of taekwondo as a priority.

To achieve the aims the plan targets “engaging, valuing and developing our people and culture” and “leading, unifying and governing taekwondo for all participants”.

While trying to build a transparent and ethical organisation, Sports Taekwondo Australia have outlined achieving financial sustainability and ensuring commercial growth as another ambition.

STAL have expressed their hope their members share the vision and engage with work to build a stronger and inclusive taekwondo organisation in the country.
