Teenager Jack Rossiter clinched the 10 metre air rifle title to continue Australian domination today at the Oceania Championships in Sydney.

Rossiter broke the continental finals record, ending on a superb 205.8 points to narrowly edge-out Dane Sampson by a mere 0.1 points with his final shot.

An Australian clean-sweep was completed by William Godward, who won bronze with 177.6.

“I’m very excited and happy to have won that very-close final, along with the quota," said a delighted Rossiter, who also secured a Rio 2016 quota place.

"I shot pretty good in the final despite the hot weather conditions.

"I just tried to do my best and got a pretty good result from that.

"There’s still room for improvement heading into the selection event, especially in the qualification round, which I will hopefully get better at with experience."

High School science teacher Jennifer Hens claimed a third Australian victory in the 10m air rifle, while junior world record holder James Willett dominated the double trap competiition.

The 19-year-old farmer beat compatriot Andrew Smith 29-28 in the final.

There was some home disappointment, however, as Commonwealth Games champion Laura Coles was beaten by New Zealand’s Chloe Tipple in the women's skeet final.

Tomorrow is due to see the last day of competition, with finals taking place in the men's skeet and 25m rapid fire pistol events.
