German dressage captain among appointments to FEI Technical Committees

Klaus Roeser, chair of the German Dressage Selection Committee has been appointed to the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) Dressage Committee as one of several changes confirmed by the governing body’s Bureau.

Roeser, the German dressage team captain, is set to serve a four-year term in the role having been named as the replacement for his compatriot Thomas Baur, a member of the Committee since 2009.

The United States’ Marilyn Payne was appointed by the Bureau to the six-member Eventing Committee as the replacement for its deputy chair Gillian Rolton, with the Australian’s four-year term having come to an end.

Payne, qualified as an FEI 4* eventing judge, will bring vast experience to the role having officiated at major evening competitions in America and across the world, including the Olympics and World Equestrian Games.

Rob Ehrens, coach of the Dutch team at the Beijing 2008 Olympics, has been appointed as a replacement for Spain’s Marco Fusté on the Jumping Committee.

France’s Anne-Marie Turbé is set to be a member of the Driving Committee until 2019 having replaced the outgoing American Edward Young.

Costa Rica’s Rocio Echeverri and Spain’s Ignasi Casas have been named as the two replacements for Britain’s John Robertson and Ireland’s Brian Dunn on the Endurance Committee.

Switzerland’s Sven Friesecke replaces The Netherlands’ Raymond Grether as a member of the Reigning Committee.

With Emma Seely’s term as the Vaulting Committee chair having drawn to a close, the Bureau have appointed Britain’s John Eccles as her replacement.

A draw will decide whether America’s Suzanne Detol or Germany’s Kai Vorberg serves the remainder of Eccles’ term on the Committee, which had been due to end in 2016, while the other will be the replacement for the outgoing Ulla Ramge of Germany.

Eccles’ fellow Briton Peter Whitehead was re-appointed by the Bureau as the chair of the Medical Committee for a second four-year term and he will be joined by Germany’s Jan Holger Holtschmit, chosen to take the place of Norway’s Franz Kasin.

Dr. Jan-Hein Swagemakers, veterinarian to the German showjumping team, has been appointed to replace Philippe Benoit on the Veterinary Committee, while Brazil’s Thomas Wolff succeeds Mexico’s Sergio Salinas as one of the seven members.
