Baltazar Medina, President of the Colombian Olympic Committee (COC) has launched the second edition of the GOLD sport administration course, which aims to familiarise participants with the management of sport organisations.

Around 35 participants are set to undertake the course’s seven training sessions, due to start on November 27 and culminate on June 25, 2016.

The course was launched during a ceremony at Colombia’s National Sports School headquarters in Cali.

Medina was joined by José Fernando Arroyo, rector of the school, as well as Wilson Cañizales, the school’s technical director.

Also present was Guillermo González López, GOLD course leader, Norma Constanza Castellanos, the COC’s academic director, and Colombian fencer Mauricio Rivas, who competed in the épée events at four Olympic Games between 1988 and 2000.

Training is based on the advanced sports management course, Managing Olympic Sport Organisations (MOSO), which is one of the Olympic Solidarity programmes.

Upon completion of course’s launch, Medina gave a lecture entitled "Concerns of the Olympic Movement".
