The Lithuanian National Olympic Committee (LTOK) and Lithuanian Olympic Academy have held their annual "Move Week" which saw a record number of more than 65,000 people take part in health-promoting events across the country.

Some 354 schools from 138 cities organised events for children, parents, teachers and communities, all of whom immersed themselves in various physical activities.

The most creative event organisers were awarded special prizes, with 200 sports items being distributed to the 15 winning schools.

Four Lithuanian Olympians contributed to the success of the event by recording an entertaining video, encouraging everyone to be more physically active and showing some basic exercises such as squats and push-ups.

Biathletes Karol Dombrovski, Rokas Suslavicius and Tomas Kaukenas, as well as boxer Evaldas Petrauskas, were those to feature in the short clip.

"I am pleased that each year the Move Week events bring together more and more people," said LTOK President, Daina Gudzinevičiūtė.

"I think that this year the Olympic family who starred in fun video clips contributed to the success of the project, also speaking about the benefits of physical activity and personally demonstrating how to perform exercises correctly, and inviting all to move together."

Gudzinevičiūtė is also the chair of the European Olympic Committees' (EOC) Gender Equality in Sport Commission.

The group is one of eight EOC Commissions, with Gudzinevičiūtė appointed chair until 2017 in August of last year.
