Colombia won a total of eight Olympic medals at London 2012,  a gold, three silvers and four bronzes.

Mariana Pajón was the country’s sole podium topper, winning the women’s BMX event ahead of New Zealand’s Sarah Walker and The Netherlands’ Laura Smulders.

Their overall medal haul represented a significant improvement on that at Beijing 2008, where they managed just one silver and one bronze, and Athens 2004, where they won two bronzes.

Weightlifter María Isabel Urrutia was Colombia’s only medallist at Sydney 2000, winning gold in the women’s under 75 kilograms category.
