The partnership means FIJI Water will become the exclusive bottled water sponsor for FASANOC.

FIJI Water was founded in 1996 and it is now the country's leading export product, being shipped to leading hotels, fine restaurants and retail locations in more than 60 countries, including the United States, where it claims to be the number one imported bottled water. 

“FIJI Water is very excited about being partners with FASANOC and Team Fiji and looks forward to a fruitful partnership," said Roko Nabalarua, chief executive of Fiji Water. 

"We see the value in being associated with such an important organisation which puts Fiji’s sportsmen and women on the world stage.”

Fiji made its debut in the Olympics at Melbourne in 1956 and has competed in every Games since Los Angeles 1984 but is still waiting to win its first medal.

The country's men's rugby sevens team will be among the favourites for a medal when the sport makes its return to the Olympic programme in Rio de Janeiro next year. 

“It is always great to see local brands with renowned international recognition to step up to the podium supporting sports and we are very happy to have Fiji’s finest water on board as a leading brand of the country and could not ask for a better quality water to be served to our players and officials," FASANOC President Joe Rodan said. 

"Fiji water provided water for Fiji athletes and officials to the Pacific Games and will continue during the preparation for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and beyond."
