At the invitation of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Albania, the President and secretary general of the International School Sport Federation (ISF) paid a two-day visit to Tirana earlier this month with a focus on creating the Albanian Federation of School Sports.

Laurent Petrynka and Jan Coolen held various meetings, including one with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and Minister of Education and Sports Lindita Nikolla.

The NOC of Albania also co-ordinated other meetings regarding the creation of the Albanian Federation of School Sports, including with members of the NOC Executive Board and the directorate of sports in the Ministry of Education and Sports.

Additionally, it was announced that Albania will soon become an affiliated member of ISF, with one of the first activities to take place in the country due to be carried out in association with the School Sport Foundation within the coming months.

The School Sport Foundation was established in 2014 by ISF with the core objective being to promote education through sport.

By means of its well-established network in sports and schools worldwide, the ISF seeks to exert a positive impact on youth, especially in developing countries.
