The Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee’s (FASANOC) Women in Sports Commission have arranged a walk and talk day in support of the Pink October Initiative.

Pink October takes place throughout the whole month and aims to raise awareness of breast cancer and additionally raise funds to help tackle the disease.

The event is due to be free for participants to attend with the walk set to start at Thurston Botanical Gardens, which are located in the capital Suva.

Suzie Yee, chairperson of the Women in Sports Commission, believes the event will attract plenty of women and with several sporting activities to try as well she hopes they will be encouraged to take up sport.

“Women participate just as much as men so we encourage women to come and have fun and also to come and try out different sports,” she said.

“In the past women have taken up these sports just through this awareness we are trying to do.
