China’s Wang Ping reached the women’s wheelchair H1 singles final, beating Switzerland's defending champion Karin Suter-Erath in straight games at the 2015 Para-Badminton World Championships in Stoke Mandeville, England.

The pairs duel was one of the most eagerly anticipated encounters of the Championships with Chinese players making their debut at the event.

It proved to be a short-lived encounter, however, as Wang quickly took charge of the match, winning the opening game in style and then edging out her Swiss opponent in a much closer second game to seal a 21-10, 21-19 victory in just 24 minutes.

Wang will now take on South Korea’s Son Ok Cha in the gold medal match after she secured a straight-games 21-18, 21-13 win over her compatriot Kang Jung Kum in the other semi-final.

In the women’s H2 event, Amnouy Wetwithan will have to secure an upset in the gold medal match if she is to take top honours.

Having beaten Turkey’s Emine Seckin 21-16, 21-10 in her semi-fnal, the Thai player now faces the challenge of South Korea’s Lee Sun Ae after the defending champion beat Japan’s Rie Ogura 21-6, 24-22.

South Korean players proved to be the star performers on the penultimate day of competition as in the men’s H2 wheelchair singles competition both Kim Jung Jun and Kim Kyung Hoon reached the gold medal contest, earning straight-game wins in their respective semi-finals.

The duo will also face each other in the H1 and H2 doubles final, where Lee Dong Seop will be partnered by Jung Jun and Hoon is paired with Lee Sam Seop.

Lee Sam may also add another gold to South Korea’s tally in the men’s H1 wheelchair singles event after beating Lee Dong 21-12, 21-9 to book a spot in the final where he will face Thomas Wandschneider, after the German overcame Thailand’s Jakarin Homhaul 19-21, 21-11, 21-19.

Hosts England have been guaranteed success in the women’s SS6 singles competition after Rachel Choong and Rebecca Bedford secured wins in their semi-finals.

There was disappointment, however, for Daniel Bethell in the men’s SL3 event as the top seed was beaten 15-21, 21-15, 21-16 by India’s Pramod Bhagat.

Bhagat will now need to overcome Pham Duc Trung in the gold medal match after the Vietnamese player earned a 21-16, 21-11 win over India’s Manoj Sarkar.
