Russian teenage sensation Yana Kudryavtseva secured a hat-trick of gold medals to continue her dominance of the sport in stunning fashion at the 2015 Rhythmic Gymnastics World Championships in Stuttgart.

The multiple world and European champion was in ruthless form with both the clubs and ribbon apparatus before she was part of the Russian trio which claimed the team title alongside Margarita Mamun and Aleksandra Soldatova.

The 17-year-old is fast becoming a true great in the sport - despite her tender years - and clinched her third successive World Championships club crown with a near flawless routine which yielded 19.066 points.

Team-mate Soldatova was some way adrift as she scored 18.583 to take home silver, while Ukrainian Ganna Rizatdinova, Gwangju 2015 Summer Universiade champion, won bronze.

The Russian, winner of four gold medals at the European Championships in Minsk earlier this year, then wrestled back the world ribbon title from compatriot Mamun, although she had to rely on a touch of improvisation towards the end of her routine to be sure of topping the podium.

Kudryavtseva’s efforts were rewarded with a score of 18.850, which was enough for her to take gold ahead of 19-year-old Mamun, the 2014 all-around silver medallist and world clubs champion, with Rizatdinova adding another medal to her collection by clinching bronze.

The formidable Russian team never looked like relinquishing their title, which they secured at the 2014 World Championships in Izmir, as Kudryavtseva, Mamun and Soldatova finished on an outstanding total of 149.990 points.

Nearest challengers Belarus, comprised of Hanna Bazhko, Arina Charopa, Katsiaryna Halkina and Melitina Staniouta, were over eight points off the pace as they registered 141.314, while Ukraine took bronze, completing Rizatdinova’s hat-trick of third place finishes.

The results reaffirmed Kudryatseva’s status as the queen of rhythmic gymnastics and she could yet reign supreme in another event as the competition in Stuttgart is due to conclude tomorrow with the all-around final, where she is again favourite to claim gold.
