The Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) has postponed its General Assembly until September 3 following a procedural error.

The election had originally been due to be held on August 6 but the NOC failed to inform the All Nepal Football Association (Afna) 21 days before the Assembly, as its statues required.

“We made a procedural error in not corresponding with Anfa in time," said NOC secretary general Jeevan Ram Shrestha.

"We accept the mistake and hope that it will serve as a precedent not only in NOC but its Member Associations as well.

“Obviously, we had oral communications with Anfa officials but in the absence of documentation, we were on the wrong footing."

At the re-arranged meeting in the capital Kathmandu, Shrestha is expected to be elected as the new President in succession to Dhruba Bahadur Pradhan, who is stepping down.

The General Assembly will also elect its 17-member Executive Committee for a four-year team.

Five other members will also be nominated after the elections.
