Athletics, swimming, wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby have been selected, while both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies on August 7 and 15 are also set to be available live on the website.

Several big-name swimmers will be eager to impress in the Canadian city, fresh off the back of competing at the 2015 IPC World Swimming Championships in Glasgow, which was also streamed live by the IPC.

Competition in the CIBC Pan Am/Parapan Am Aquatics Centre and Field House is set to begin on August 8, with all eyes expected to be on Brazil’s Daniel Dias who won 10 gold medals four years ago at Guadalajara 2011 and will be targeting a repeat in Toronto.

Nine-time Paralympic champion Benoit Huot will be among the home hopefuls eager to impress, while Canada’s rising star Aurelie Rivard could be another to delight the crowd, with the teenager having secured double gold at the World Championships.

Action from the 116 swimming medal events will be accessible on the IPC’s swimming website, while a dedicated page for athletics will see 114 medals decided with sprinters such as Brazil’s Alan Oliveira and the United States' Richard Browne set to compete.

With the star names set to be among 1,600 athletes due to compete in Toronto, Craig Spence, the IPC’s director of media and communications, expressed his delight at being able to provide coverage to fans from all over the world. 

"We are delighted that we will be broadcasting live pictures from four highly-attractive sports during the Parapan American Games," he said.

"With each sport in Toronto acting as a Rio 2016 qualifier, competition is expected to be fierce with athletes and teams going all out to secure the Parapan title and book their flights to next year's Paralympic Games."

Wheelchair basketball will be one of the fiercest competitions at the Games as limited Rio 2016 places are up for grabs.

The men require a top-two finish to progress to next year’s Paralympics, while the women can seal a berth by ending among the top three teams.

The host nation Canada will be expected to face competition from arch-rivals America in wheelchair rugby, having had close encounters at both the London 2012 Paralympics and 2014 World Championships, with Canada triumphing in the semi-finals of both editions.
