Multiple Paralympic champions Tatyana McFadden and Ray Martin of America both claimed three world records on a superb day of action at the Daniela Jutzeler Memorial race in Arbon, Switzerland.

McFadden continued her excellent recent run of form which also saw her win the London Marathon, which doubled as the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Marathon World Championships, by breaking records in the T54 1500 metres, 800m and 400m races.

She stormed to victory in the 1500m in a blistering time of 3mins 13.27secs, and the three-time Paralympic gold medallist also secured a dominant win in the 400m, powering home in 51.90 to break the record set by Canada’s Chantal Peticleric at the 2004 Paralympic Games by 0.01 seconds.

McFadden proved too strong for the rest of the field in the 800m by clocking 1:42.72 to ensure she added three titles to the five she claimed at the recent IPC Athletics Grand Prix in Nottwil, Switzerland.

Martin, a four-time Paralympic gold medallist, also put in a commanding performance to finish the day with an impressive haul of three victories in record-breaking fashion.

He surged to 100m success in the T52 category in 16.46, and the wheelchair racing sprint-king then sealed the 400m title in 55.19.

The American star’s emphatic display was capped off with a win in the 1500m thanks to an imposing time of 3:29.79.

Elsewhere, Joshua George, who pipped Britain’s David Weir to the Marathon World Championships crown in London in April in a thrilling final sprint, managed to claim a world record of his own as he reigned supreme in the men’s T53 800m race.

George was involved in another fascinating head to head duel, this time with compatriot Brian Siemann, and he eventually got the better of his team mate, crossing the line in 1:34.43 to take victory in a race where both competitors went below the world record pace.

McFadden herself had one of her records broken as American Chelsea McClammer won the T53/54 5,000m race in a time of 11:04.54, shaving more than six seconds off her team mate’s time.
