A staggering 10 Asian records have been set on the second day of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Athletics Grand Prix at the Beijing Outdoor Athletics Track.

Home sprint star Cuiqing Liu, who claimed a hat-trick of gold medals at last year’s Asian Para Games in Incheon, set a new continental mark with her third win of the event in China’s capital by clocking 25.24sec in the 200 metres T11, while her compatriot Lin Zhu shaved 0.2 seconds off the Asian record she set at Incheon 2014 with a new mark of 27.35 in the women's 200m T13.

Another home athlete Yingli Li added the women's 200m T37 gold medal to yesterday’s 100m win, bettering her own Asian record in the process with a time of 29.11.

She also won the 400m T35/37/38 by clocking 1min 07.93sec, while Paralympic champion Junfei Chen, also of China, finished just outside her Asian record mark in the 200m T38 with a time of 27.60.

Elsewhere, there was an Asian record for home athlete Wenjia Wang in the men's 800m T11 after he took more than two seconds off the previous mark for a new time of 2:06.50, and compatriot Chaoyan Li clocked 15:17.53 to take almost 15 seconds off the previous mark set by Japan's Naohiro Ninomiya in 2003 in the 5,000m T46.

The home success continued as the Chinese 4x400m T53/54 women's relay squad of Lihong Zou, Jing Ma, Wenjun Liu and Hongzuan Zhou clocked 3:40.66 to smash the previous Asian record of 3:46.11 set in 2011, while the men's equivalent team of Meng Li, Yang Liu, Chengming Liu and Shiran Yu clocked 3:16.58.
