United World Wrestling announced a two-year sponsorship deal with sports nutrition company MusclePharm, who will provide products and nutritional education to wrestlers.

MusclePharm products are subject to a six-stage research process by their Sports Science Institute and as part of the quality control phase "informed choice" certifies that products are free of banned performance-enhancing substances.

“They are a leader in the nutrition industry because they maintain rigorous quality standards and show a commitment to athletes,” said Nenad Lalovic, United World Wrestling President.

“The focus of this partnership is to improve the education of wrestlers when it comes to nutrition.

“We want our athletes informed about safe solutions to making weight and use of supplements.”

Lalovic also claimed the United World Wrestling have received assurances that MusclePharm will abide to the updated World Anti-Doping Agency code, which came into force on January 1.

“Our sport needs partners who will play an integral part of improving the sport of wrestling,” Lalovic said.

“MusclePharm has proven experience with nutritional supplements and we were impressed that their strategy is based on education and giving athletes the best product."

The award-winning sports nutrition company, boast 14-time golf major winner Tiger Woods and former professional bodybuilder and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger among their partners, while they are already the official nutritional supplement provider of USA Wrestling and the latest agreement strengthens their position as a key supporter of the sport.

“We are proud to be the official sponsor of United World Wrestling organisation and believe that our commitments to excellence and quality are aligned,” said Brad Pyatt, President and chief executive of MusclePharm.

Additionally the latest deal highlights the federation’s drive to increase the sports commercial partners, following on from signing an agreement with Chinese sports equipment firm Taishan Sports Industry Group, which saw them become the official mat provider for United World Wrestling events.
