The Maltese Olympic Committee has signed a two-year sponsorship agreement with Bajada New Energy ©MOCThe Maltese Olympic Committee (MOC) has signed a two-year sponsorship agreement with Bajada New Energy, a leader in Malta's renewable energy sector.

MOC President Julian Pace Bonello confirmed the funds generated from the deal will help to boost the technical preparation of elite and youth athletes, with a total of 87 athletes and 21 national associations set to benefit.

Jonathan Vella, MOC marketing director, added that the MOC will soon be announcing the distribution of approximately €35,000 (£25,800/$38,500) to the athletes, which have been nominated by their own federations and vetted by the MOC Commission.

"These kind of partnerships are crucial for the MOC to support our athletes in the best way possible," Pace Bonello, told The Times of Malta.

"Sixty per cent of the funds from this agreement will go into the youth elite scheme which is being introduced.

"They deserve such treatment after all the efforts they [and their parents] go through in preparing themselves for training camps and competitions."
