Turkey's Demircan Güler has received an IOC Fair Play Award after her sporting gesture at IBSA Judo World Championships ©IBSATurkey's Demircan Güler has received the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Fair Play Award in recognition of a sporting gesture at last year's International Blind Sports Association (IBSA) Judo World Championships in Coloardo Springs.

Güler was adjudged to have won her quarter-final bout in the under 70 kilogram category at the Championships by an ippon, leading a protest from her opponent, Hungary's Nikolett Szabo.

Video evidence proved inconclusive but Güler admitted that it was Szabo who had performed the ippon, not her, meaning the result was overturned.

Szabo made full use of her let-off by going on to claim the gold medal.

The IBSA put Güler forward for the IOC Fair Play Award.

She was presented with her award by Hungary's Kamuti Jenő, a double Olympic fencing silver medallist who is chairman of the IOC's Fair Play Committee, in the presence of IBSA President Jannie Hammershoi and Norbert Bíró, head of the IBSA Judo Committee.
