Chris Vos claimed 33 per cent of the public vote to earn the Athlete of the Month award ©Getty ImagesChris Vos has been voted as the International Paralympic Committee's (IPC) Athlete of the month after the Dutchman claimed two gold medals at the Para-Snowboard World Championships.

The 17-year-old faced a battle in the snowboard cross head to head event with Norway's Kristian Moen to claim his first gold of the Championships, which were held in La Molina, Spain.

He then topped the podium in the SB-LL1 class in the banked slalom event, where he proved to be the fastest on each of the three runs to secure his second gold.

Vos secured 33 per cent of the public vote to be named Athlete of the month, with Argentina's wheelchair tennis player Gustavo Fernandez the runner up, after receiving 25 per cent.

Fernandez triumphed at the first International Tennis Federation 1 Series singles title of 2015, with victory at the ABN AMRO World Wheelchair Tennis Tournament, held in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Winter sports were heavily featured on February's list of nominations with Russia's Alpine skier Alexey Bugaev and US Nordic skier Oksana Masters also put forward as candidates for the monthly title.

British athlete Aled Davies, who broke two world records in February, and French rower Perle Bouge, completed the list.

Andrew Soule of the US was the winner of the January award, after claiming five medals at the IPC Nordic Skiing World Championships.
