A new website have been launched ahead of the European Goalball Championships in Lithuania ©Lithuania Blind Sport FederationAn official website for July's International Blind Sport Federation (IBSA) Goalball European Championships Division A event in Kaunas, Lithuania has been launched.


The website, accessible here, comes 17 weeks before the event is scheduled to take place from July 5 to 12. 

A full schedule of the Championships, billed as the biggest in Lithuanian Paralympic history, can be found on the site, along with entry forms, accommodation guidance and promotional videos about the host city and host nation.

History of the continental event and information on the two venues -  Sabonis Basketball Hall and Kaunas Sports Hall - can also be found.

Approximately 260 participants from 14 countries are due to compete in the event, with the tournament a last chance for European teams to qualify for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

Lithuania's men will be hoping to build on fourth-place finishes at both London 2012 and the 2014 World Championships in Espoo, Finland.

They will be joined by teams from Spain, Turkey, Germany, Czech Republic, World Championship runners-up Finland, Belgium, Sweden, Ukraine and last year's B-division winners Slovenia..

Russia will be favourites in the women's event following a World Championship silver medal in 2014, with opposition due to come from Turkey, Israel, Finland, Germany, Ukraine, Spain, Denmark, Sweden and Greece.

The event, which will follow a B-division Championships in Budapest, has already been endorsed by Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite, with an event logo having also been revealed last month.
