Polsat is the latest broadcaster to sign a deal with Baku 2015 ©Baku 2015Baku 2015 has confirmed an agreement with Poland's biggest private television network Polsat to broadcast the inaugural European Games, while the event's chief operating officer Simon Clegg has said here that Danish station TV 2 has followed suit. 

Polsat will provide a minimum of six hours of coverage per day, as well as daily highlights, and will also screen the Opening and Closing Ceremonies on June 12 and 28 respectively.

"I am delighted that the inaugural and prestigious European Games will now be available to the Polish people through the Polsat and Polsat Sport channels," said Clegg. 

"Our aim is to share the European Games with the widest possible audience, and we will continue working hard to ensure this."

Polsat is the home of UEFA's European qualifiers and UEFA Euro 2016, as well as tennis' Wimbledon Championships, cycling's 2015 World Road Race Championships, the 2015 and 2017 European Volleyball Championships in Poland, and the men's 2016 European Handball Championship.

"The European Games one of the most significant developments in the international sporting calendar for the last 50 years, and thanks to this agreement, Polish sport fans will be able to follow all the action," said Piotr Pykel, Polsat head of sports.

"Polsat is proud to be the exclusive broadcaster bringing Baku 2015 to the televisions of Poland, and we look forward to showcasing Baku and 17 days of great competition."

Andrzej Kraśnicki, President of the Polish Olympic Committee, added: "The European Games is a vitally important development in the world of sport, and will provide athletes in no fewer than 12 sports with Olympic qualification opportunities.

"Baku 2015 will be a wonderful opportunity for Poland's athletes to experience competition at the highest level, and for Polsat to be screening the event is great news."

Clegg also revealed that an agreement has been struck in Denmark with TV 2, although the details of it have not been released as of yet. 

This takes the total number of countries broadcasting the European Games around the world to 54, although confirmation of a deal in some key nation's, including Great Britain, are still to be announced.
