Heavy fog in the Bulgarian resort meant that races were cancelled on both Friday and Saturday (February 27 and 28).

The latter was belatedly held on Monday (March 2) when the fog lifted, with Anna Fenninger of Austria tasting victory, and it was initially thought possible the first race would be rearranged as well.

The decision to opt against this means world champion Fenninger maintains a 32 point lead over the United States' Lindsey Vonn with just two races left.

Next up is due to be a race in Garmisch Partenkirchen, Germany on Sunday (March 8) before the finale in the French resort of Meribel on March 19.

Action is due to begin in Garmisch Partenkirchen with a downhill contest on Friday (March 6) with the world's top men also competing in downhill action this weekend in Kvitfjell, Norway.

Fenninger, the giant slalom world champion, is also now in second place in the overall women's World Cup standings, on 1,101 points, 44 behind leader Maze, with Mikaela Shiffrin of the US third.

Her compatriot Marcel Hirscher holds a 188 point lead in the men's overall event, ahead of Kjetil Jansrud of Norway and Alexis Pinturault of France.
