Maas arrived at the American resort on the back of a successful weekend in Stoneham, Canada, where she clinched victory in both the big air and slopestyle events and she seemed to build on that momentum with a superb array of tricks on her way to claiming 87.75 points.

That total proved enough to beat America's Karly Shorr, who sealed her maiden podium place, finishing second with 81 points, and reigning big air world champion Elena Koenz of Switzerland, who was third.

The result strengthens Maas' advantage at the top of the overall World Cup leaderboard as she has an 840 point lead over Shorr in second.

"I'm really happy about all the podiums but I'm just focusing on my riding," 30-year-old Maas said.

"I'm super stoked the results come with it.

"Hopefully I can keep it going."

In the men's slopestyle competition, the host nation enjoyed a dominant afternoon as the American trio of Eric Willett, Charles Guldemond and Eric Beauchemin swept the podium in front of their home crowd.

Willett took his first-ever victory with a mammoth total of 95.25 points, while Guldemond was second, 2.75 points adrift, and Beauchemin third on 87.50.

"It's one of those things that you want, and you know it never gonna happen because everyone is riding so well," Willett said.

"But we did it.

"It couldn't be any better.

"Today was pretty amazing, I didn't have that feeling for quite a long time.

"It feels so good to finally come back and put down a solid run."

The Snowboard Freestyle World Cup tour is due to continue with the halfpipe competitions on Sunday (March 1).
