Kim Yoon-suk and Kim Jung-chul sign the partnership agreement between Gwangju 2015 and Hyundai Engineering and Construction ©Gwangju 2015Gwangju 2015 has signed a new deal that sees the Hyundai Engineering and Construction Company becoming an official partner of this year's Summer Universiade.

The firm, which has worked on the Kyeong-bu express way - the nation's longest freeway - and the Singapore Suntec Tower, will provide construction services for the event's facilities and venues in the South Korean city.

Gwangju 2015 secretary general Kim Yoon-suk welcomed the new partnership.

"I deeply appreciate Hyundai E&C's commitment to help us host a successful Universiade," he said.

"I am confident that we will deliver an outstanding Universiade with the help of the leading global construction company."

Hyundai Engineering and Construction head of planning Kim Jung-chul was equally pleased with the deal and said his company will support the success of the Games, due to take place from July 3 to 14.

"Hyundai E&C is delighted to be an Official Partner of the Gwangju Universiade," he added.

"The World University Games is a meaningful event and we will do our best to help the GUOC (Gwangju Universiade Organising Committee) host a successful Universiade."

Hyundai Engineering and Construction joins the likes of Ourhome, Hyundai Marine and Fire Insurance, Sebang Travel Ltd and Kwangju Bank as official partners of Gwangju 2015.

The event is set to attract some 20,000 participants representing 170 nations around the world to compete across 21 different sports and disciplines.
