Masters, winner of a bronze medal at her home World Championships in Cable in January, powered to victory in the women's classic sprint event, finishing in a time of 3min 12.60sec.

That proved enough to beat Paralympic champion Marjann Marthinsen of Norway, who clinched silver in 3:20.10, while Russia's Natalia Kocherova was third.

"What an amazing day for @USParaNordic, 2 golds and a silver at @IPCNordic #asahikawa2015 World Cup," Masters tweeted.

Her success was then replicated in the men's event by the imperious Soule, who led an American one-two as he finished ahead of compatriot Daniel Cnossen in 2:52.80, and Canada's Chris Klebl, who was third.

Like Masters, the result capped off a superb weekend for the 35-year old after he won the classic short distance race yesterday, and it continued his dominant run of form following his historic achievement of taking five medals at the recent World Championships.

Elsewhere on day two, Russia's Vladislav Lekomtcev continued his monopoly of the men's standing event as the reigning world champion beat off competition from Japan's Yoshihiro Nitta and Mark Arendz of Canada to take gold.

In the women's standing, all three podium finishers from the previous day's competition went to the same athletes, although this time Canada's Brittany Hudak sealed victory, crossing the line in a time of 3:32.21.

Yurika Abe of Japan came through to take silver and Russia's Ekaterina Rumyantseva, who claimed gold in the short distance race, had to settle for bronze this time around.

Another athlete at the double was Norway's Eirik Bye alongside guide KM Hellerud as he won the men's visually impaired race in 3:02.80.

The French duo of Anthony Chalencon and guide Lucas Duperrex were second, while South Korea's Bogue Choi and guide Seo Jeongryun took third.

The event at the Japanese resort is due continue on Tuesday (February 17) with the cross-country races.
