The Olympic champion proved to be fastest on both runs posting times of 56.27 and 56.13, with his combined total of 1min 52.40sec proving too much for his competition.

Second on the day was Latvia's Martins Dukurs, as his time of 1:52.81 saw him finish just 0.41sec behind Tretiakov.

Two-time Olympic silver medallist Dukurs will not be too fazed by the result having already sealed his sixth overall World Cup title, after dominated the season, in which he managed six wins and two second place finishes from eight events.

Dukurs' brother Tomass was forced to settle for fourth position in Sochi, after he was beaten to the podium by South Korea's Sungbin Yun.

Tomass was able to finish as the runner up in the overall standings, while Germany's Axel Jungk ended the World Cup in third.

The Dukurs brothers will aim to reproduce their dominant World Cup form at the Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Championships, which will take place in Germany from February 23 to March 8.
