Beijing 2008 Olympic silver medallist Payne and Para-swimming European silver medal winner Quin both train in Edinburgh and are hoping for podium finishes at their respective World Championships this year, as well as at the Rio 2016 Olympics and Paralympics respectively, but are first celebrating the IPC event, due to take place at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre on July 13 until 19.

"It's fantastic that the IPC Swimming World Championships are coming to Glasgow this summer," Payne said.

"After the huge success of Glasgow 2014 it's great that people will get another opportunity to see world-class swimming in Scotland and I hope they'll turn out to support the GB team.

"I'll be cheering on Scott as he aims for his first World Championships medal this year."

Quin, who won his silver medal in the 100 metres breaststroke SB14 at the IPC Swimming European Championships last year, is now hoping to be selected for the British team set to compete in Glasgow, where he will be hoping for a podium finish.

"The IPC Swimming World Championships will allow me to test myself against the best swimmers in the world and will be a great way for me to measure where I am with a year to go until Rio," he said.

"Training with Keri-Anne will definitely help me prepare for the IPC Swimming World Championships.

"She is a double world champion and an Olympic medallist and I'm learning a lot from her."



Among the athletes likely to represent Great Britain at the IPC Swimming World Championships are four-time Paralympic gold medallist Ellie Simmonds, Paralympic, World and Commonwealth champion Ollie Hynd and seven-time European champion Stephanie Slater.

The week-long event will bring together some 650 swimmers representing 50 nations, who will compete for 172 medals in freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly, individual medley, freestyle relay and medley relay across 14 different classes, with distances ranging from 50m to 400m.
