The nation joined more than 30 countries worldwide to mark the International Ski Federation event, with snow and ice celebrations taking place in in Chongli County, Kangbao County, Guyuan County and downtown Zhangjiakou.

The festivities at Chongli County saw children aged between four and 14 years old being led by professional ski coaches at the Genting Resort Secret Garden Ski Park, one of the proposed competition sites for the Beijing 2022 Winter Games, while others created snow sculptures.

In Kangbao County, the Kangbao Grassland Snow and Ice World opened, which features 33 scenes and an exhibition dedicated to the Winter Olympic Games, while in Zhangjiakou a frozen river channel was transformed into a large outdoor skating rink.

The World Snow Day celebrations will continue for the next few weeks, with a number of events due to be staged in Guyuan County and the "Future Star" Winter Sunshine Games, which will see more than 300 young athletes representing 18 teams from the five provinces and cities across Northern China, set to take place on February 13 and 14.
