Aimee Mullins and Rupert Friend are engaged to be married ©Getty ImagesUnited States Paralympian Aimee Mullins is engaged to boyfriend Homeland star Rupert Friend, it has been reported.

The engagement between the athlete, who competed in the 100 metres and long jump at the Atlanta 1996 Summer Games, and the British-born actor was revealed as this week's L'Oréal Paris Women Of Worth Awards in New York.

Mullins, who acted as the US team's Chef de Mission at the London 2012 Paralympics, was among the presenters at the gala event for the brand, for which she is an ambassador alongside the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Jane Fonda.

She was congratulated by the hosts with an announcement as she took to the stage to give a special presentation, according to People.

She has not, however, been seen wearing a ring.

Mullins and Friend, who was previously linked to fellow British movie star and Pride and Prejudice co-star Keira Knightley, were first seen together last year.

Friend is currently starring in the fourth season of multiple Emmy Award-winning television drama Homeland and is working on a new film Barton and Charlie and Checco and Bill.
