The firm will supply both teams with wheelchair basketball chairs through the Ottobock Mobility Solutions GmbH.

As part of the deal, members of both national teams will provide their experience and feedback from a high performance sport angle for the optimisation and new developments of Ottobock products.

The German men's team's best performance on the international stage was a silver medal at the 1992 Paralympic Games in Barcelona, where they lost out to The Netherlands in the final.

They have also finished as runners-up twice in European Championships in Roermond, The Netherlands in 1999 and the 2011 Championships held in Nazareth, Israel.

The women's side have proved much more successful, however, and are the reigning Paralympic champions after defeating Australia in the London 2012 gold medal match.

Then playing as West Germany, they also claimed Paralympic gold in 1980 and 1984.

The German women have also finished as World Championship runners-up on three occasions, while they have been crowned European champions a record nine times.
