Bahrain Olympic Committee general secretary Abdulrahman Askar and Asghar Khan, head of Pakistan's national football team, both agreed on the importance of further bolstering ties between their National Olympic Committees.

Khan is in Bahrain while his team take part in a training camp, and he was welcomed to the suburban neighborhood of Seef for the meeting

During their talks, Askar praised the strong links between the two countries, particularly when it comes to sport, and called for "more cooperation and coordination between the two sides" in an attempt to achieve "common interests" for both.

Askar also spoke of his pride at the signing of Bahraini coach Mohammed Al Shamlan to Pakistan's national team.

Khan thanked his host for the "warm welcome and generosity" received during the training camp.
