Brazil now have two wins under their belts at the Volleyball World Championship in Poland ©Getty ImagesDefending champions Brazil today secured their second win of the Volleyball World Championship, defeating Tunisia 25-18, 25-10, 25-17 at the Spodek Sports Hall in Katowice.

Tunisia got the game underway and were 4-0 ahead but Ricardo Lucarelli then opened the scoring floodgates to see the Olympic silver medallists catching up at 6-6 before running ahead with 8-6 at the first technical timeout and finishing the first set 25-18 up.

The champions then managed to make it a seven-point lead at the first technical timeout in the second set, which they ultimately claimed.

The third set saw Tunisia coming in with renewed vigour as they managed to start closing the gap on Brazil.

But Brazil then ran ahead to make it 13-8 in their favour before finishing the set 25-17 to take the match.

Olympic champions Russia also gained another win in the tournament, this time it was a straight sets 25-22, 25-15, 25-15 victory over Egypt in Gdańsk's Ergo Arena.

Despite an early lead in the game, Egypt ultimately could not overcome the high performing Russians.

Also in Gdańsk, China came back after a first set defeat to overcome Mexico 20-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-20 for their second victory of the tournament.

Yuan Zhi was the star of the game, scoring 30 points, while middle Geng Xin was solid with his net defence, but China coach Xie Guochen was keen to acknowledge the effort put in by all of the nation's players.

"I know that Yuan Zhi played extremely well in this match and he showed it with his excellent scoring," he said.

"I am also satisfied with other members of the team, they played well too."

The other match at the Ergo Arena today was the showdown between Bulgaria and Canada, which was eventually won by the latter team 25-17, 17-25, 25-20, 24-26, 8-15.

Over in Katowice Finland overcame South Korea in three sets 25-22, 26-24, 25-15, while Germany beat Cuba 25-16, 25-21, 25-19.
