After what the IPC has described as a "bumper month of sport", it has split the usual Athlete of the Month gong into three categories.

Six athletes from six sports have been put forward for the August Best Male vote, having been whittled down from submissions by National Paralympic Committees and International Federations.

Among the nominees is Ukrainian swimmer Yevheniy Bohodayko.

He picked up a bumper haul of seven gold medals and two silvers at the 2014 IPC Swimming European Championships in Eindhoven.

Also nominated is Finn Henry Manni, who won four gold medals in the 100 metres, 200m, 400m and 800m T34 at the IPC Athletics European Championships in Swansea.

The pair are joined in the public vote by Australian sailor Daniel Fitzgibbon, winner of his his first world title at the 2014 IFDS Combined Sailing World Championships in Halifax, Canada, and Irish cyclist Eoghan Clifford, who won two rainbow jerseys for Ireland in the C3 class at the UCI Para-cycling Road World Championships in Greenville in his first major event.

Canadian Zak Madell, winner of the Most Valuable Player award at the Wheelchair Rugby World Championships in Odense, Denmark, and Briton Lee Pearson, who broke a four-year individual gold medal drought to win two at the World Equestrian Games in Normandy, complete the list.

The public vote closes at noon Central European Summer Time next Wednesday (September 10).

The votes for the Best Female and Best Youngster in the Allianz-supported award will open later this month.
