London 2012 Paralympic Games gold medallists Daniel Fitzgibbon and Liesl Tesch solidified their place at the top of the SKUD 18 standings with another impressive day on the water.

The duo claimed another race win, their fourth of the Championships, and two second place finishes to remain at the head of the leaderboard.

Defending champions Alexandra Rickham and Niki Birrell of Great Britain began with a disappointing ninth in their first outing, but recovered to record a second before taking the win in the final race of the day to sit in second place overall.

Two thirds and a fifth keep Italians Marco Gualandris and Marta Zanetti in touch in third place overall and they are followed by the home duo of John McRoberts and Jackie Gay.

The other win in the SKUD 18 came in the form of Australians Peter Beard and Rachel Cox.

After light winds put paid to any action in the Sonar and 2.4mR classes yesterday, the sailors were itching to make up for lost time in Halifax today.

Canadians Paul Tingley, Scott Lutes and Logan Campbell began the day leading the Sonar class, but a best finish of ninth in the last race saw them drop behind defending champions Bruno Jourdren, Eric Flageul and Nicolas Vimont-Vicary of France.

The French crew recorded a fourth and second to take control of the class by four points going into the final day of racing tomorrow.

A win in race one helped Australian trio Colin Harrison, Jonathan Harris, and Russell Boaden move up to third at the expense of Britain's John Robertson, Hannah Stodel and Stephen Thomas.

Meanwhile, there was another Aussie triumph in the 2.4mR class as Matthew Bugg claimed his second race win of the Championships to move up to fifth in the overall standings.

A surprise win for Argentine Juan Fernandez Ocampo in the first race of the day was followed by victory for Frenchman Damien Seguin to keep him in second place overall behind overnight leader Heiko Kroeger of Germany.

A best finish of seventh was still enough to keep Kroeger just ahead, while a second and a fifth maintained British Paralympic champion Helena Lucas' grip on third place ahead of compatriot Megan Pascoe.
