The International Working Group on Women and Sport is seeking applicants to fill the position of chairperson ©IWGThe International Working Group on Women and Sport (IWG) is looking for a chairperson to help advance its aim of improving opportunities for women and girls in sport.

They will lead the work of the IWG for the next four years, leading up to the 7th World Conference on Women and Sport in Botswana in 2018.

The successful candidate will work alongside fellow chairperson Ruth Maphorisa from Botswana.

She is responsible for the 2018 World Conference and IWG Secretariat, located in Gaborone.

The two chairpersons should "propose a clearly defined division of labour and responsibilities, which will be approved by the IWG members".

Applicants must be committed to the advancement of girls' and women's sport and physical activity; have knowledge and understanding of the international sports movement; ability to network, develop and nurture relationships with individuals and organisations; and be available and capable of representing the IWG at meetings and conferences.

The successful candidate will need to be able to finance their participation in the IWG Annual Meetings and other events or meetings, where they will be representing the IWG.

Applications must be received by August 31, with the successful candidate selected by September 30.

The role will begin on January 1 and end four months after the 7th IWG World Conference on Women and Sport.

This year's Conference was held in June in the Finnish capital Helsinki.
