Germany have dominated the 2014 World Rowing Junior Championships in Hamburg ©World RowingGermany secured more than half of the gold medals on offer at the World Rowing Junior Championships in Hamburg as they topped the medals table with seven of the 13 golds available.

Home advantage paid off for the German contingent as they placed a boat in each of the 13 finals being contested on the final day of action in Hamburg.

Seven gold medals and two silvers was the reward for the hosts as they took wins in the men's and women's eight, men's and women's single sculls, men's four, men's quadruple sculls and men's double sculls.

Tom Ole Naske secured a memorable gold in the men's single sculls as he surged to victory in 8 min 17.69sec, a full 20 seconds ahead of second placed Daniel de Groot of Canada.

South Africa's Daniel Watkins rounded off the podium in third, finishing a further six seconds behind de Groot in 8:44.29.

Romania could only hang on to take the bronze medal as Russia finished strongly to surge into second inside the final 500 metres.

It was a tighter contest in the men's eight as the hosts were pushed right to the line by the Dutch boat, with the pair finishing within less than three seconds of each other.

In this race, Germany finished with a time of 7:39.960 while The Netherlands came in with a time of 7:42.660.

Italy rounded off the podium in third finishing slightly behind the front runners in 7:46.050.
