This follows news in May that the process to sell the house, which lies in the gated Silver Woods Country Estate community in the east of the city, after it was put on sale in March.

It was eventually sold for £250,000 ($400,000/€300,000).

It has also been revealed the 27-year-old, whose trial is still continuing, needed to sell the property to raise money for his legal bills, which total up to over £5,000 ($9,121/€6,700) per day.

According to the Times Live in South Africa, the buyer Louwtjie Louwrens plans to retire to the property with his family.

"It is in a safe area and everyone I dealt with was very professional," he said.

'It stood empty for more than a year and there is some water damage, so we would first have to repair it."

Pistorius is accused of murdering Steenkamp after shooting her multiple times through a bathroom door on Valentines Day last year.

He claims to have done it by mistake after mistaking her for an intruder.

The house in which the incident took place has featured in the trial on several occasions, as both the prosecution and the defence have attempted to work out exactly what happened, while various neighbours in the Silver Woods area have also testified.

Pistorius has never returned there since the incident, due to bad memories, and the six-time Paralympic champion  has been living with his uncle ever since the incident took place.

The case has been adjourned for almost a month following the defence team completing their case, but closing arguments by both the defence and the prosecution are due to be presented this week.
