Indian media reports have claimed Choudhary, who was a late inclusion in the Indian squad, tested positive in an out-of-competition test conducted by the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) last month and was subsequently sent home, despite indicating that his return home was due to his father's ill health.

The President of the Paralympic Committee of India, Rajesh Tomar, has, however, denied having any information on the matter, when questioned by the Press Trust of India.

"I don't have any such information," he said.

"If at all there is any such communication about an athlete found positive then it must be sent to Secretary's office in Bangalore.

"I have not got any such information."

Initial media reports claimed a member of the Indian Para-sport contingent confirmed Choudhary's dismissal from Glasgow.

"It is true that Sachin tested positive for a banned substance," the official told PTI on condition of anonymity.

"The test was conducted by the NADA around a month back.

"It is an unfortunate incident.

"He will not return to Glasgow and his name will be removed from the starting list in the team managers' meeting.

"Sachin is an experienced Para-athlete and a medal prospect.

"He took part in the 2012 London Paralympics and also the World Championships."

Despite the reports, Choudhary's name is yet to be removed from the Glasgow 2014 official information database "myinfo", with the site still showing the 31-year-old competing in the men's heavyweight competition on Saturday (August 2).

The site does, however, state that "the participant list and totals in this section will not be confirmed until the final technical meetings have taken place for each sport," meaning that the Indian could yet be removed from the line-up when the start list is officially formulated.

Further reports by the PTI have indicated that secretary general of the Paralympic Committee of India, J Chandrasekhar, confirmed the findings, adding a possible life ban may be slapped on the athlete.

"Sachin's dope sample taken by the NADA on June 23 was found to be positive for a banned substance and now he will give his B sample," Chandrasekhar told PTI.

"We will take a decision after the result of B sample comes.

"We don't tolerate doping by our athletes.

"Surely, we will punish him and we are even thinking of slapping a life ban on him."
