PBF secretary general, Iqbal Hussain, has talked about his team's plans to reap advice and guidance from the globally known boxer, who won lightweight silver at Athens 2004.

"We will be having a good training programme at the most modern gym of Amir and his guidance will be a blessing for our boxers who will be learning the finer points of the game from the world known boxer," he told Pakistan's Daily Times.

Iqbal has expressed his hope that the pre-games planning will improve the performances of each individual boxer.

"[The] Commonwealth Games are a tough event where a number of teams will be participating and we are confident that our boxers will also rise to the occasion," he added.

Khan's gym, Gloves Community Centre, which is in the English town of Bolton, invested his own money into the building of the facility.

The Pakistan squad consists of six boxers, Mohib Ullah (46 kilograms), Muhammad Wasim (52kgs), Nadir Baloch (56kgs), Ali Ahmad (60kgs), Amir Khan (64kgs) and Muhammad Asif (69kgs.)

Wasim will captain the team, after winning a bronze medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, India.

Three officials will join the six boxers when they fly from Islamabad to the UK later this week.

Glasgow 2014 is due to open on July 23 and run until August 3.
