Both sides have been drawn in tough-looking Pool A where they will face hosts Denmark, Belgium, Great Britain and Finland.

The Canadians, who won the World Championship in 2002, will get their campaign underway against the hosts, while Australia face a tough opening assignment against a British side who were the highest placed European team at London 2012, finishing fifth.

Both sides are scheduled to meet in the final match of the pool stages which is likely to decide who finishes first and second in Pool A.

Australia warmed up for the Championships by taking the Canada Cup title in Vancouver earlier this month defeating the hosts 62-54.

"We're in the tough pool, but I like that," said Australian head coach, Brad Dubberley, whose side will be chasing a first world title in Odense.

"It means there are no easy games and it means that we will need to be at our best throughout the whole tournament.

"We can't drop off at all.

"We know Canada will be a very tough and very physical opponent for us, and that the European teams play a very different style of rugby to one that we play.

"They focus more on passing, ball control and being patient while we play a faster, more physical style.

"That means we will just have to stay focussed and not get frustrated.

"It's a good challenge and we can't wait to get over there and get into it."

Defending champions the United States headline Pool B where their toughest challenge is likely to come from Japan, who moved up to fourth in the world rankings after taking bronze in Vancouver recently.

Similar to Pool A, the Americans - chasing a fifth world crown - and the Japanese clash in the final game of Pool B.

European champions Sweden look the likeliest side to challenge the big two in this pool, while France, Germany and New Zealand will also provide tough tests.

The top two teams from each pool will advance to the semi-finals while the rest of the sides will play-off to decide the final placings from eighth to 12th.

The 2014 Wheelchair Rugby World Championships at the Arena Fyn in Odense are due to take place from August 4 to 10.
