Five teenagers make up Great Britain's seven-team squad for the Romania International Open ©Bongarts/Getty ImagesFive teenagers will represent Great Britain's Para table tennis team at the Romania International Open this week.

The squad will be led by 15-year-old Billy Shilton, winner of his first international gold medal in the men's class 7 team event in the Slovenia Open last month.

He is one of a team of seven who will compete in the Horea Demian Sports Hall in the Romanian city of Cluj.

Also in the squad is Megan Shackleton, 15, Thomas Matthews, 21, Lucie Bouron, 19, Lawrence John, 15, Conor Gordon, 18, and Martin Perry, 20.

Matthews took bronze in the men's class 1 team event in Slovenia.

"These players are already showing great potential for the future," said GB performance director Gorazd Vecko.

"At this stage it is all about gaining more experience at international level.

"Although Rio 2016 may come too soon for some of these athletes it is important that they have the opportunity to qualify over the next two years."

The Romania International Open is due to take place from Thursday (June 12) to Sunday (June 15).

Medals will be awarded in the men's and women's singles and the men's and women's team, in classes one to 11.

The draws for the singles will take place on Wednesday (June 11) and for the team events on Thursday.
