Sacramento Basketball Holdings and the Sacramento Sports Commission are pairing up to support the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships ©USATFSacramento Basketball Holdings, ownership group of the National Basketball Association's (NBA) Sacramento Kings, and the Sacramento Sports Commission (SSC) have announced they are joining forces to help promote this month's USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

The two organisations will work together to drive ticket sales and premium hospitality packages, while helping to boost the sponsorship revenue of the competition, which marks the return of track and field to Sacramento with the first major United States meet since the Athens 2004 Olympic Trials.

"We are excited to partner with the Sacramento Sports Commission because we share their vision of Sacramento as a great sports destination," said Chris Granger, President of the Sacramento Kings.

"One of the core values of our NBA 3.0 philosophy is to support and elevate the local community, and we see this as a prime opportunity to help showcase the business and economic opportunities Sacramento has to offer."

The USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships are due to take place at Sacramento State's Hornet Stadium from June 25 to 29, and a successful event could help ensure the return of the competition in 2017, a qualifying year for the US' World Championship team.

"Sacramento has some of the most passionate sports fans in the United States, and I have no doubt that this community will support the Championships and athletes like no other region in the country could," said Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson.

"This a great opportunity to put Sacramento on the map as a prime destination for high level sports and events, and I couldn't be more excited about the potential economic benefits this partnership can bring to Sacramento."
