The Festival 2014 events will include live music, special guests and will allow spectators to watch all the action from the Opening and Closing Ceremonies at Celtic Park and Hampden Park live on big screens.

They will form part of an overall programme of events as part of Festival 2014 which will see live zones for spectators, due to take place from July 19 to August 23, which organisers claim will see an invigorating mix of entertainment, culture and enjoyment fills the streets, spaces and stages of Glasgow.

On July 23 Lulu will be among a number of Scottish musicians, including Eddi Reader, James Grant, Rab Noakes, Sarah Hayes, Roddy Hart and the Lonesome Fire, Emma Pollock and RM Hubbert, performing in Glasgow Green during the Opening Ceremony of the Games.

A food village will also be located in the Green, situated in the east of the city, which will also play host to a Closing Ceremony party on August 3 set to feature the Treacherous Orchestra, along with surprise special guests, according to organisers.

"The Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games are going to be amazing," said Glasgow native Lulu.

"Glasgow has much to shout about this year - and I look forward to cheering our sporting heroes on to success at the Games.

"I am delighted to join thousands of Glaswegians and those from across the Commonwealth on Glasgow Green to celebrate the opening of such a momentous event.

"My home city has an incredible, worldwide reputation for friendliness and enjoying a good-old get together.

"The Opening Ceremony celebration on Glasgow Green is the perfect occasion to invite everyone to join the party."

Tickets for the Opening Ceremony party in Glasgow Green are priced at £20 ($33/€25) for adults, £10 ($17/€12) concession and £40 ($67/€49) for special family tickets, while for the Closing Ceremony party they are priced at £10 ($16.75/€12.30) for adults, £5 ($8/€6) concession and £20 ($33/€25) for family tickets.

Organisers claim that £1 ($1.70/€1.20) from every ticket bought for the Glasgow Green Opening Ceremony will be donated to UNICEF.

Meanwhile, in the west of the city similar events will take place at the newly refurbished Kelvingrove Bandstand which has undergone a £2 million ($3.2 million/€2.4 million) makeover for the Games.

Scottish musicians Belle and Sebastian will lead the Opening Ceremony celebrations here with tickets for the event priced at £25 ($42/€31) for adults, £12.50 ($21/€6.25) concession and family tickets from £55 ($92/€68).

The Closing Ceremony tickets cost £10 ($17/€12) for adults, £5 ($8/€6) concession and £20 ($33/€250) for family tickets which will see a new commission from Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra, performing with Tam Dean Burn and multi-instrumentalist, Corey Mwamba while there will also be rousing classical music from the Scottish Opera.
