Cable, in the American state of Wisconsin, is due to welcome around 200 athletes from 23 countries from January 21 to February 2.

With four months passed since the IPC awarded the hosting rights, organisers are now dealing with the challenge of bringing the competition to its community.

"We're really thinking about logistics, where the opening ceremonies and closings and all the award ceremonies [will be] and the layout of the trails, what the new stadium is going to look like," said U.S. Paralympic Nordic director John Farra in an interview with WDIO-DT.

The Organising Committee met with coaches and experts to map out its strategy.

James Bolen, executive director for the Cable Area Chamber, said: "Now we have to worry about transportation from the lodging facility at Lakewoods [set to host athletes and coaches] to the competition venue.

"We have to bring in tents and little things, like electricity and port-a-potties and all these things that the facility used to provide."

Athletes will compete on the trails surrounding Telemark Resort, and organisers hope to highlight the culture of northern Wisconsin during the competition.
