German car manufacturing giant BMW has signed a deal to become a national supporter of this year's Basketball World Cup.
The firm was the Official Car Provider at EuroBasket 2013 in Slovenia and at the 2013 International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Under-19 World Championship in Prague, Czech Republic.
Its latest deal sees it back the sport's flagship event, due to take place across Spain from August 30 to September 14.
"We are very proud to take this step and we identify with the values and professionalism of the FIBA Basketball World Cup," said Guenther Seemann, Executive President of BMW Group in Spain and Portugal.
"BMW has always been characterised by its dynamic spirit and sportsmanship."
Matches will be played in six venues during the World Cup - Madrid, Barcelona, Granada, Barakaldo, Seville and Las Palmas.
The United States will be seeking to defend the title they won four years ago in Turkey, when they beat the hosts 81-64 in the final.
Hailing the deal, which was signed today with the sport's governing body and the Spanish Basketball Federation (FEB), FEB President Jose Luis Saez, said: "Since we began five years ago with this project [of hosting the FIBA Basketball World Cup], we have had the challenge of making it an unforgettable event in the history of basketball.
"With BMW and all of our partners we are confident we can achieve this."
