Hadaway, who is widely credited for the success of the Olympic and Paralympic equestrian events as London 2012's sport competition manager, was today presented with the BEF Medal of Honour at the Badminton Horse Trials retrospectively, after being officially recognised in 2012.

BEF chairman Keith Taylor presented the award.

"He [Hadaway] was instrumental in the successful delivery of the Olympic equestrian events at Greenwich Park in 2012, bringing equestrian sport back to the heart of the Olympics and increasing the visibility of the sport to a global audience," read a BEF statement.

Hadaway began his career with The Pony Club, before going on to work as a cross country course builder, course designer and then into event management, working with major international events.

As well as holding technical advisory positions with British Eventing, he collaborated with Doha 2006 to advise on the delivery of the Asian Games cross country phase before joining London 2012 in October 2008.
